Moving The Pews

When we sold the pews that were in our old church, one of the suggestions was to place an advertisement in some of the bigger cities newspapers to sell them to possibly another church. But, they were concerned about the truck rental cost. Should that be figured in to the price? or make whoever bought them be responsible for getting them back to their church. As it turned out, the pews were sold locally, and we didn't have to worry about the extra expense after all. Honestly, I wish I had bought one of the smaller ones. Our Youth Director laid claims on one before the church building was even sold, and she recovered it, and it is perfect in her office in the church. A place for people or kids to sit when she is at her desk.

Making Them Work

Everytime I see an ad for diet pills, I get lost in that fantasy land of "oh how I wish". I know there is a lot of bad publicity about diet pills, but as with any wieght loss medication or tool, it is only as good as the effort the person taking them put in. If you make your mind up that you can do this, and you make sensible and wise choices, then the added tool of diet pills will be successful. But if you go into it thinking they are a quick fix, and they will do all the work, while you sit back and continue to eat as you have done in teh past, and not exercise, then of course they are going to fail. It is you who failed, not the pills.

Luncheon Baby Shower

I always love attending a baby shower, to see all the unique baby gifts the mom and new baby recieve. We have a baby shower coming up at the church this Sunday. The ladies organizing it have decided to have a Luncheon Baby Shower -- so besides the usual cake and punch that you will find at a traditional baby shower, a lunch will be provided as well. Even though this is her second child, a baby is such a precious thing and should be celebrated. And bring out the gifts. Should be a fun afternoon.

Fulfilling A Promise

Last year, our VBS took on a western theme, and our minister told the kids that if they invited their friends and we reached the goal of 75 kids attending VBS, he would ride a horse to VBS the last night. He doesn't own a horse, but he has done some horseback riding in his day. However, he does have connections, being the minister of a church, and several of our members are horse owners. So, he didn't need to worry about horse supplies or transportation to get the horse there. He just needed to fulfill his promise and come riding into the parking lot -- on a horse. He did a great job, and the kids loved it.

Finding The Right Tools

When it comes to weight loss, the tools you use are only as successful as you are motivated. If you are depending on the tools, whether it been weight loss pills, or a Weight Loss Surgey, or a well known program that millions have been successful at, it still up to you to make the right choices. You can have surgery and have half your stomach removed. But, if you don't make healthy choices at your meals, then the weight you lost will return. I wish I had been more motivated when my doctor had prescribed pills for me. They worked, but then I had to push the limits, just a bit at first, and then a bit more and a bit more, until they weren't effective at all. But that was my fault. Not the pills. I'm embarking on a whole new WL venture, and I am determined to make it work, and be successful. I just have to. I can't continue on like I am now. 'Nuff said.
