Changes Are Coming

Things are changing. I might be only working part time this summer intead of full time, which would be nice. Actually, there would be a time of "full time" -- but it would be on my time. Right now, I work at the church in the morning, and a trucking company in the afternoon. And some paid computer work in the eveings. If we do what we are thinking about, I won't be working at the trucking company, but will try to step up and work harder at the computer work. If this change happens, I would like to see some other changes happen. Work on declutter more. Make the house more company friendly. And while I'm "dreaming", lets throw in a diet pill that works. Losing weight would help significantly with the other things. I am not happy with the way I live my life right now, but don't seem to have the time or energy to change it. I'm hoping these changes do transpire, and I can finally make a difference in my life. This has gone on long enough.

Oversized

Last year when Ethan went to prom, he wore the tuxedo that he had for the Barbershop Chorus performance he was in the year before. It fit, but it was a bit snug. But, for just a few hours of prom, it served its purpose. This year, he had a date, and he said early on, he was going to go rent a tux. Because he is a big kid, I called the flower shop to make sure they would have one in his size. The lady who runs the flower shop knows Ethan (matter of fact, we are related to her), so she knew what "size" I was talking about, and reassured me it wasn't a problem. Sure wasn't. They measured him. The tuxes came in Monday, and he went down to try it on to make sure it didn't need altering. Honestly, it could have, but he didn't want to chance not having it for Saturday, so he left them as is. The breeches were too big. What he ended up doing was taking the suspenders from his other tux and that kept his pants up without having to worry about being depants mid dance. Its good to know they have his size and bigger. Not that I want him to ever wear the size he could have been for them to fit right. But, when you are "this" size, its not very often you find something that is too big for you. But this sure was. But, he still looked handsome in his tux.

Getting Ready For Prom Night

Ethan is really looking forward to this weekend. Saturday is Prom Night. He has a date, although, I do have to say its on the "strange" side. But, he's not the only one doing what he is doing, so I guess its the "acceptable" thing these days???? Last year, he was really good friends with this one girl, who is a year older than he is. They would talk for hours, but I repeat -- they were just friends. They still are, even though she is going to college now. She had a boyfriend last year, and they are still are together. Her boyfriend is "OK" with Ethan taking her to Prom. There are several others that are doing the same thing. Which, if the boyfriends don't care... Anyway.... Ethan went down several weeks ago and ordered his tux. It was supposed to come in tomorrow, but it actually came in yesterday. So, he went down to the place where he rented it from, and tried it on. I was concerned that they wouldn't have his size. I'm not sure they have plus size corsets and even if they did, I'm sure Ethan wouldn't wear one. Fortunately, though, the tux fits good -- maybe even a little on the loose size, so thats a good thing. Its hard to believe we are in the final days of school for him. A senior. Where have all the years gone and when did my little boy turn into such a wonderful young adult?

Protecting The Floors

When we were at Matt's house for Thanksgiving, we set tables up in the living room -- he has a small kitchen, and no dining room. So, the living room was our only option. He has hard wood floors -- I was worried about scratching them with our chairs. I told him he should have put down a couple of area rugs -- but since we are only over there once, maybe twice a year for something like this, I can see why he just gave me this funny look and told me that it probably wouldn't happen. Maybe this year we can have Thanksgiving at our house, and then we won't have to worry about the floors. We have carpeting all through the house.

Clearing The Weekend

Seems like David's job is never done. When he's not dispatching during the week, then there is a list of things he has to do over the weekend when the trucks are not rolling down the road. Some weekends are worse than others. Some weekends he can actually do some things for him, and not do any truck stuff. But others, he has to work all day Saturday, and then again Sunday afternoon. He is always after his guys to make sure they have all their safety equipment and if something isn't there, or needs to be replaced, to tell him. But still, every once in awhile, he'll make a big circle, and visit all the trucks himself, and check to make sure everything is what the driver's says. Most of the time, it is. But there are times, what the drivers consider "good", David doesn't. So, it doesn't hurt for David to be double checking them. But still, it would be nice if David could have the weekends totally off like the rst of us. He wouldn't know what to do with himself.
